INVOCATION

A semi-autobiographical magical realist coming-of-age tale, merging dance, poetry, storytelling and live music

Invocation emerged during research enabled by a DYCP Grant from Arts Council England in 2022. Based on a poetry manuscript of the same name, the performance tells a tender, powerful story of sisterhood and solidarity, from teenage witchbag to #MeToo tales, mythic underbelly and ancestry.

A triology of three pilot films were created as adaptations of the live show. You can watch these below.

Invocation is also the title of Izzy’s first poetry collection, which will be published by Yaffle’s Nest in October 2025. You can pre-order the book here

“A  voice of fire - shapeshifting from mystic DNA to the heart-break of ourselves, everywoman, reflected in the back of a spoon. Buy this book, read these dreams, and rediscover hope”.

-         Louise Fazackerley

“Witty, rousing, relatable and full of wonder, this collection celebrates the female experience; our history, our traditions, and particularly our place in the modern world.

At times animalistic, and often grounded in the power of nature, Invocation calls for deeper understanding and connection - not only to the world around us, but to ourselves”.

-         Maria Ferguson

Beautiful, powerful, emotive. An annotated dance piece in celebration of womanhood and power.

Moving, felt transcendant. Very relatable … let’s start a crone club!

Mesmerising, quite haunting and thought provoking.

Nostalgic, dream-like, heartbreaking and inspiring.
